OB-PCG Official Partners for Literacy and Sustainability

Operation Brotherhood Community Foundation (OBCF) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) strengthened their partnership in promoting literacy and sustainability through education with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement at the National PCG Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, last April 21, 2022.

Gracing the MOA signing ceremony were PCG Commandant CG Admiral Artemio Abu, OBCF President and Auxiliary Commodore Sara Francesca Soliven-De Guzman, and Auxiliary Commodore Jose Mari de la Peña.

The program provides teacher training to teams of the PCG Civil Relations Group to enable them to provide child and adult literacy programs anchored on the Montessori method of learning.

The agreement allows the collaborative establishment of community centers across all Coast Guard districts that aims to develop the children’s awareness of marine environmental protection, provide parents with training opportunities on livelihood projects, and strengthen the involvement of fisherfolks in upholding marine environmental protection, maritime security, and maritime search and rescue.

Also present during the meeting were Deputy Commandant for Operations CG Vice Admiral Eduardo Fabricante; Commander of Coast Guard Civil Relations Service (CGCRS) CG Rear Admiral Juan Manuel Ramos; Chief of Coast Guard Staff CG Commodore Tito Alvin Andal; CGCRS Deputy Commander CG Commodore Rodolfo Ingel Jr.; Chief of Staff for Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command, Captain Maricor Soliva; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Civil Relations Service CG Captain Christopher Auro, and other PCG officers.
